To help your child settle into care…

Transitioning Into Care

For most children, entry into childcare will be the first experience of being separated from you. It is natural that your child will experience some anxiety, therefore it is important for us to work together to build a relationship necessary for successful transition and adjustment for your child and yourself.

We follow primary care principles within our services. This is achieved through having the same educators present at the start and finish of each day as well as maintaining consistent educators within each area. Predictable practices, warm respectful relationships and continuity are an essential part of our day. This will support both families and children to establish comfortable and familiar relationships.

Parents are encouraged to help their child’s transition by taking the child to visit the centre a few times prior to leaving them. These visits may assist the child and family in this transition process. Both parents and child then receive an overall picture of the centre and have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and absorb the centre environment. This is also an ideal time to go over any other questions you might have.

Our centre offers your child the following transition opportunities to ensure a smooth adjustment. These sessions are usually booked at the enrolment meeting.

Settling Into Care

Parents are encouraged to discuss any issues with educators that are relevant to your child’s day to day care, behaviour or emotional state. Please feel free to telephone during the day to enquire about your child’s wellbeing. Our educators/centre director are happy to assist you in this open and ongoing communication.
