Wanslea Nursery and Early Learning Centre is situated in beautiful Kingswood, in a large and spacious Federation Villa.  Wanslea takes its name from the Women’s Australian National Services (W.A.N.S.) of South Australia, which was established in 1941. According to the history books, this service was initiated by a ‘group of gallant women’ during WW2 to provide services to women and children in need of support. Wanslea evolved as a childcare service operated by Anglicare in the 1980’s up until 2021 when it was purchased by Bower Education. A renovation of the property is planned for mid-2022 that will see the Centre nurtured and refreshed, including newly landscaped gardens and play spaces. 

Wanslea welcomes children between the ages of six months to five years old, providing a caring and exciting environment in which they can play, learn, explore, and flourish. Our philosophy and pedagogy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach whereby children are respected as capable, curious individuals with their own unique learning styles and passions. We believe that children have a right to high quality care, education, and play based learning experiences.

Children play for hours at our potion table, mixing, squirting, stirring. As the contents included leaves, twigs, water and berries from the trees, we saw all different colours emerge, sparking curiosity and delight amongst the children

We had our first Happy Feet Fitness class today, the children enjoyed learning all about recycling whilst stretching and moving their bodies to some great tunes! Thanks Miss Lisa, we can’t wait until next weeks class.
Today our Wanslea Kindy room embarked on their first visit to Calvary Mitcham as part of our new Intergenerational Program with them. The children enjoyed sharing stories with the residents and looking at their amazing fish tank.
Last week we begun our community connection with St.Josephs Kingswood. We visited the school to expose our Kindy children to a school environment and setting. They enjoyed exploring the nature playground.

Last Tuesday we had Kathryn from the Mitcham Library visit the centre for an incursion. She read "How to find and Elephant" to the children and then together they engaged in a craft experience making hats. The children showed enthusiasm an
